“It’s always ‘An Amazon Driver’ when they do something good, and ‘a third party Amazon driver’ when it’s bad.”

An Amazon driver in Greensboro, North Carolina saved a woman’s life and was rewarded with a pizza party and a laptop.

Amanda Smith was driving along her usual route when she saw a tire sticking up from a steep embankment off the side of the road. When Smith pulled over, she found an overturned car, where a woman named Shirley Roberts had been trapped for hours with multiple broken bones. Smith called for an ambulance, and Roberts was cut out of the car 30 minutes later by rescue workers and taken to a hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

Roberts’ daughter-in-law called it “divine intervention.” Smith said she was glad to hear that Roberts was recovering.

A Statesville Record & Landmark article about the incident shared a photo of Smith and her delivery van captioned, “Amazon driver Amanda Smith spotted Shirley Roberts’ overturned vehicle along her route in Asheboro and was able to get help for Roberts, who is recovering. Roberts said she swerved to miss a dog when her car left the road and plunged 20 ft down an embankment. Amazon presented her with the Extra Mile award and a surprise pizza party for her team.”
